Ecological Tips
The first and most basic tip is to carry your own bag. Keep it in your purse or backpack at all times and use it when you go shopping. By doing so, you can reduce the use of disposable plastic bags and save money on constantly buying bags. When you do the math, paper bags are not always the best. First, paper bags are not always the best, especially if you have to buy one every time you go shopping. Second, they tear easily. Better than plastic, but still deforests a lot. Still, if you take a folding bag, that\’s the end of it.
Invest in a reusable bag. You can get them for a few hundred kroner. If you are crafty, try recycling curtains by sewing old curtains yourself. Buy fruits, vegetables, nuts, and baked goods for them too. Take everything out at home and then take it back to the store. This way you can greatly reduce the use of small microthene bags. You don\’t have to worry about being scolded at the store. No one will mind, and when you weigh your fruits and vegetables, simply stick the label on the drawstring where it is most likely to stick and peel it off at home.
Carry your own bottle or cup. Wherever you go, do not buy coffee in plastic cups or water in plastic bottles. It is unnecessary waste. Again, get a good quality, sturdy, nice cup or bottle that will last a lifetime.
Cook at home. Not only is it economical, but it is also environmentally friendly. Plus, you have control over the entire meal process.
Reduce plastic. Buy products with as little packaging as possible. Today, whether it is food, cosmetics, or drugstores, there are stores without packaging.
Buy local products. As you can imagine, transporting food to the other side of the world is enormously expensive, plus there are tons of emissions from ships, planes, and trucks. For example, in the summer, buy raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, etc. You will be amazed at the taste. If you buy Spanish peppers, they won\’t taste as good as Czech peppers.
